Less energetic than I expected

I wanted a playful breed and chose Birman partly for their reputation as interactive cats. Mine plays but only for short bursts. Mostly she prefers resting in comfortable spots and gentle petting. She's lovely but I sometimes wish she had more energy. Perfectly good cat, just a mismatch with my expectations of 'playful.'
