Very independent and self-directed

Turkish Vans are not lap cats. Mine is affectionate on his own terms — he comes for attention when he wants it and leaves when he's done. He's not aloof exactly, more self-possessed. If you want a cat that constantly seeks you out and demands cuddles, this is probably not your breed. If you want a fascinating, independent companion, it's perfect.
