Magnificent but demanding breed

My Akita is stunning to look at and has a presence that commands a room. She learned basic commands quickly but she decides when she wants to obey, which requires patience. She is fantastic with my kids but I never leave her alone with unfamiliar dogs because she has a short fuse with them. The double coat blows out twice a year and I could stuff a mattress with the fur. Worth every extra effort for the right experienced owner.
