Gentle giant with my family

My Malamute has been extraordinary with my three children, ages four through ten. He lets the youngest crawl on him and never reacts negatively. He is enormous and powerful but seems to understand he needs to be gentle with small humans. He greets every visitor like a long-lost friend. His only downside is the hair. I could build a second dog from what he sheds in a week.
