Think very carefully before getting a Dachshund — my honest experience

I'm writing this after 3 difficult years. I want to be clear: I don't blame the breed. The Dachshund has genuine wonderful qualities — brave and bold. But the challenges have been overwhelming for us.

stubborn streak has been relentless. back problems are very common was something we were told about but completely underestimated. It has affected our entire family's daily routine.

The health costs have been devastating. progressive retinal atrophy. We did not have adequate pet insurance and the financial strain has been significant.

One star because I feel the breed community isn't honest enough about the true demands. Some people are absolutely perfect for Dachshunds. I was not one of them. Please research thoroughly.
