Heartbreaking lifespan

I have to mention this honestly. My Great Dane was the most wonderful dog I have ever loved and we lost him at eight years old. He was relatively young but the breed simply does not live as long as smaller dogs. The love is immense but so is the grief that comes sooner than you expect. If you can accept the shorter partnership, the years you have with a Dane are extraordinary. Just go in with eyes open about this reality.
