Wonderful once mature
The key to enjoying an Irish Setter is patience during the long puppyhood. Mine was testing until age three. From three onward he has been an absolutely brilliant dog. He is responsive, affectionate, playful without being destructive, and a wonderful sporting companion. People who give up on the breed before maturity miss out on something special. The investment of the early years is rewarded richly by the dog that emerges.
