Separation anxiety is significant

My Maltese cannot be alone without distress. She vocalises, she refuses to eat, and her anxiety is genuine and real. We have worked with a veterinary behaviourist and tried multiple medications and behaviour modification programmes. She is much improved but it has been an extended project. If you intend to be away from home regularly you need to plan very carefully for this breed's companionship needs.
