Vet bills escalated in later years

My silver mitt developed both insulinoma and adrenal disease by age 5. Managing both simultaneously required specialist vet visits every three months and ongoing medication. The bills were substantial. I loved him completely and managed both conditions for two years before he passed peacefully at 7. Ferrets are wonderful animals but prospective owners need to understand and budget for the real likelihood of expensive health issues in later years.
