Check the bloodlines for genetic conditions

My Quarter Horse is wonderful but I wish I'd researched genetic conditions before buying. Heavy Impressive-bred bloodlines carry HYPP risk. I bought my horse without doing genetic testing and he has N/H HYPP, which requires careful diet management and monitoring. He lives a happy, manageable life, but the condition was avoidable with a genetic test before purchase. Always test Quarter Horses before buying — it's inexpensive and could save significant heartache.
