Eighteen years of morning whistles

My cockatiel is eighteen years old and still my morning alarm clock. He starts whistling the moment light comes through the window and does not stop until I come to uncover him. He has grey feathers where yellow ones used to be and moves a little slower, but his personality is unchanged. Cockatiels are genuinely long-lived birds and the bond that forms over nearly two decades is profound. Wonderful, wonderful species.
