Live food is the main challenge
Leopard geckos need live insects and won't consistently eat dead prey. Maintaining a feeder insect supply (I use mealworms and crickets) adds a layer of management I wasn't fully prepared for. The insects themselves need feeding and housing. Once the routine is established it's fine, but new owners should factor in the ongoing live food requirement. The gecko herself is wonderful — calm, healthy, and beautiful.
