Worth every bit of preparation

Chinchillas take some preparation — you need to understand the temperature requirements, dust baths, proper diet, and enclosure needs before bringing one home. But get all that right and you have an extraordinary pet. Mine is 10 years old, healthy, and still as active as ever. He's bonded deeply to me and chatters softly when I approach his cage. The commitment pays off enormously over a decade of companionship.
