Not for young children

I got dwarf hamsters for my 7-year-old, which in hindsight was too young for this particular species. They're extremely fast and easily dropped, and one escaped within the first week. Thankfully we found her. The hamsters themselves are healthy and active, but the speed and fragility make them unsuitable for young children. I'd recommend Syrians for kids and dwarf hamsters for teenagers or adults.
