Hibernation management is important

Hermann's tortoises must hibernate — attempting to keep them active year-round causes health problems. I dry-hibernate mine in a cool garage (8–12°C) from November to March in a box of substrate. The first winter was nerve-wracking but she woke up in spring perfectly healthy and immediately demanded food. Correct hibernation is achievable with research but requires commitment. Join a tortoise keeper forum for guidance — experienced keepers are invaluable.
