Multi-decade commitment is serious

Russian tortoises live 40–50+ years. I got mine 15 years ago and have come to terms with the fact that she will outlive me unless I live to 90. I've arranged for her care in my will. This sounds extreme but it's a genuine responsibility that prospective tortoise owners should think about. She's a wonderful animal and I love her dearly — just be honest with yourself about a 50-year commitment before getting a tortoise.
