Genuinely bonds with caregivers

People assume tortoises are unaware of their owners. My sulcata has disproved this entirely over 15 years. She knows my voice, my routine, and comes to the gate of her enclosure when she hears me approach in the morning. She tolerates handling from me willingly but is more cautious with strangers. The relationship that develops over years of consistent, respectful care is genuine and deeply rewarding.
