My 13 days exploring Yogyakarta and beyond — completely worth it

I spent 13 days in Indonesia and based myself mainly in Yogyakarta. The city itself exceeded expectations — the Uluwatu Temple was genuinely jaw-dropping and I ended up visiting twice. Food was a highlight throughout; I must have eaten gado-gado every other day and have no regrets about it whatsoever.

What I didn't expect was warm and spiritual culture. That element really elevated the trip from good to exceptional. The locals I encountered were warm and patient with my attempts at the language. I'd encourage anyone on the fence to just book it.
