Solo trip to Serbia: everything you need to know

Did 9 days solo in Serbia and found it extremely manageable as a solo traveller. The transport network around Subotica is decent and getting to Studenica Monastery independently was straightforward. Met fellow travellers easily and locals were generally happy to chat.

genuinely warm Balkan hospitality was a personal highlight — something I'd only found in independent travel research. One note: cashless payment less common outside cities. Nothing serious but worth knowing. The solo experience here was genuinely rewarding and I came home having learned a lot about a place I knew very little about.
