Honest review after 13 days — mostly great, a few gripes

Visited South Africa for 13 days. The positives are real: Cape of Good Hope is every bit as impressive as advertised, and the food scene around Cape Town is genuinely excellent — try bobotie if you haven't. world-class safari experiences was an unexpected bonus.

That said, crime requires vigilance especially in cities. It's not a dealbreaker but worth knowing before you go. I'd still recommend South Africa to most travellers — just manage your expectations on those specific points and you'll have a great time.
