Good country, exhausting tourist industry

Tanzania is a genuinely beautiful and interesting place. Mount Kilimanjaro is worth every superlative thrown at it. The zanzibar pizza is legitimately excellent. Zanzibar's spice history and beaches gave the trip real depth.

What I struggled with: the tourist infrastructure around the headline sites in Stone Town Zanzibar is relentlessly commercial and roads between parks can be rough is a genuine friction point. You can feel the gap between authentic Tanzania and the packaged version sold to tourists. The authentic version wins, but you have to work to find it.
