First time trying Empanadas — completely converted
I had never tried Empanadas before this visit and I wasn't sure what to expect. The intensely beefy and smoky taste hit immediately and made sense of the dish in a way descriptions never quite do. dulce de leche is an ingredient I'd not encountered used quite like this before.
The a family quincho barbecue area setting added something to the experience — this kind of food makes sense in that environment. Argentina consumes more beef per capita than almost any other country. My server recommended Malbec alongside and it was exactly right. I've been telling everyone to try Empanadas. Outstanding first encounter.
