I spent three months trying every version of Panta Bhat I could find locally. The variation in quality is extraordinary. The best version handled panch phoron five-spice with genuine knowledge and the earthy from poppy seeds result was noticeably superior.

Bengali cuisine shares roots with West Bengal India but has distinct Muslim food traditions. The winning restaurant had the right a Dhaka riverside fish restaurant feel — unpretentious and focused on the food. aam panna green mango drink was suggested correctly. Worth the search. When Panta Bhat is made properly it's a completely different experience.
