I spent three months trying every version of Cornish Pasty I could find locally. The variation in quality is extraordinary. The best version handled malt vinegar with genuine knowledge and the comforting and hearty result was noticeably superior.
British cuisine was shaped by the Empire, introducing curries and international ingredients into the national diet. The winning restaurant had the right a full English café breakfast feel — unpretentious and focused on the food. a glass of claret with Sunday roast was suggested correctly. Worth the search. When Cornish Pasty is made properly it's a completely different experience.
