Underwhelming Fish and Chips — expected more

I was looking forward to Fish and Chips here based on the reputation. The reality was disappointing. The subtly sweet with caramelised elements character that makes this dish special was muted — either from shortcuts with HP sauce or from scaling up production at the expense of quality.

British cuisine was shaped by the Empire, introducing curries and international ingredients into the national diet. The a Sunday pub lunch setting I was hoping for wasn't quite there either. English Breakfast tea was available but not suggested appropriately. I've had much better versions elsewhere. Two stars because the dish concept is sound; the execution let it down.
