I grew up eating Sticky Toffee Pudding and have strong opinions shaped by memory. The version here triggered that recognition in the first bite — the deeply satisfying was right, malt vinegar was handled the way it should be.

British cuisine was shaped by the Empire, introducing curries and international ingredients into the national diet. Growing up it was always a full English café breakfast, which shaped my reference point entirely. English Breakfast tea alongside it is the only way it makes sense to me. It's hard to be objective about food you have emotional history with, but objectively: this is very good.
