Underwhelming Sticky Toffee Pudding — expected more
I was looking forward to Sticky Toffee Pudding here based on the reputation. The reality was disappointing. The comforting and hearty character that makes this dish special was muted — either from shortcuts with proper beef suet or from scaling up production at the expense of quality.
British cuisine was shaped by the Empire, introducing curries and international ingredients into the national diet. The a traditional seaside chippy setting I was hoping for wasn't quite there either. English Breakfast tea was available but not suggested appropriately. I've had much better versions elsewhere. Two stars because the dish concept is sound; the execution let it down.
