Laphet Thohk for a dinner party — went down extremely well
I made Laphet Thohk for eight guests who had varying familiarity with the cuisine. Every single person asked for the recipe. The complex and earthy profile was the main talking point — no one had quite experienced lemongrass used that way before.
mohinga fish noodle soup is considered the national dish and eaten as breakfast across the country. I explained the a traditional Burmese home breakfast context as I served it which helped people appreciate it fully. toddy palm juice was what I offered alongside and it worked perfectly. Excellent dinner party dish — impressive without being inaccessible.
