First time trying Mont Di — completely converted
I had never tried Mont Di before this visit and I wasn't sure what to expect. The pungent and fermented taste hit immediately and made sense of the dish in a way descriptions never quite do. fish paste ngapi is an ingredient I'd not encountered used quite like this before.
The a Yangon tea shop setting added something to the experience — this kind of food makes sense in that environment. mohinga fish noodle soup is considered the national dish and eaten as breakfast across the country. My server recommended fresh lime soda alongside and it was exactly right. I've been telling everyone to try Mont Di. Outstanding first encounter.
