First time trying Sweet and Sour Pork — completely converted

I had never tried Sweet and Sour Pork before this visit and I wasn't sure what to expect. The aromatic and complex taste hit immediately and made sense of the dish in a way descriptions never quite do. Shaoxing wine is an ingredient I'd not encountered used quite like this before.

The a family banquet table setting added something to the experience — this kind of food makes sense in that environment. communal sharing at the table is culturally central. My server recommended Shaoxing rice wine alongside and it was exactly right. I've been telling everyone to try Sweet and Sour Pork. Outstanding first encounter.
