Underwhelming Cuban Sandwich — expected more

I was looking forward to Cuban Sandwich here based on the reputation. The reality was disappointing. The sweet from caramelised plantain character that makes this dish special was muted — either from shortcuts with sofrito tomato base or from scaling up production at the expense of quality.

paladares are privately owned Cuban restaurants that developed as an alternative to state food service. The a Havana paladar restaurant setting I was hoping for wasn't quite there either. guarapo sugarcane juice was available but not suggested appropriately. I've had much better versions elsewhere. Two stars because the dish concept is sound; the execution let it down.
