Finding the best Flan in the city — a personal search
I spent three months trying every version of Flan I could find locally. The variation in quality is extraordinary. The best version handled slow-roasted pork with genuine knowledge and the sweet from caramelised plantain result was noticeably superior.
paladares are privately owned Cuban restaurants that developed as an alternative to state food service. The winning restaurant had the right a family Sunday lechón feel — unpretentious and focused on the food. mojito was suggested correctly. Worth the search. When Flan is made properly it's a completely different experience.
