Honest verdict on Vaca Frita — good but not exceptional

Vaca Frita here was solidly made — savoury and deeply satisfying without anything to complain about. sofrito tomato base was present and handled reasonably. But something was missing from the depth that this dish should have.

paladares are privately owned Cuban restaurants that developed as an alternative to state food service. The a Cuban café abroad atmosphere was pleasant enough. guarapo sugarcane juice was available and a good suggestion. For a reliable version of Vaca Frita this works. For an exceptional one, I'd keep looking. Three stars.
