Best Svíčková I've had — and I've tried a few
Having eaten Svíčková at several restaurants over the past year, I can say this version is the best. The hearty and deeply savoury quality is more pronounced here than anywhere else I've tried. pickled vegetables is handled with real knowledge — you can taste the difference.
This is proper a Prague pub restaurant cooking, not an adaptation for foreign tastes. slivovitz plum brandy was the obvious choice and the combination was perfect. Czech cuisine is inseparable from beer culture, one of the world's highest per-capita consumption nations. Would return for this dish alone.
