Honest verdict on Basbousa — good but not exceptional

Basbousa here was solidly made — earthy and warming without anything to complain about. fenugreek seeds was present and handled reasonably. But something was missing from the depth that this dish should have.

Egyptian cuisine is one of the oldest recorded food cultures, with accounts dating to pharaonic times. The a traditional Egyptian koshari shop atmosphere was pleasant enough. ayran was available and a good suggestion. For a reliable version of Basbousa this works. For an exceptional one, I'd keep looking. Three stars.
