Underwhelming Khachapuri — expected more
I was looking forward to Khachapuri here based on the reputation. The reality was disappointing. The rich with walnuts and spice character that makes this dish special was muted — either from shortcuts with tkemali plum sauce or from scaling up production at the expense of quality.
Georgia claims one of the world's oldest continuous wine-making traditions dating back 8000 years. The a Tbilisi restaurant with a tamada toastmaster setting I was hoping for wasn't quite there either. Borjomi mineral water was available but not suggested appropriately. I've had much better versions elsewhere. Two stars because the dish concept is sound; the execution let it down.
