Honest verdict on Kürtőskalács — good but not exceptional

Kürtőskalács here was solidly made — richly paprika-spiced without anything to complain about. onion was present and handled reasonably. But something was missing from the depth that this dish should have.

Hungarian cuisine was shaped by nomadic Magyar traditions mixed with Ottoman and Habsburg influences. The a traditional market stall atmosphere was pleasant enough. Pálinka fruit brandy was available and a good suggestion. For a reliable version of Kürtőskalács this works. For an exceptional one, I'd keep looking. Three stars.
