Langos as comfort food — exactly what I needed

Some dishes exist to comfort and Langos is absolutely in that category. The deeply flavourful quality works on something almost primal — you feel the warmth of it immediately. lard does work that no substitute can replicate.

paprika only entered Hungarian cooking in the 17th century but now defines the cuisine. There's something about the a lakeside restaurant on the Balaton context that reinforces the comfort effect. Pálinka fruit brandy alongside is the traditional way and it makes complete sense. I come back to this dish when I need something dependable and restorative.
