Finding the best Gado-Gado in the city — a personal search
I spent three months trying every version of Gado-Gado I could find locally. The variation in quality is extraordinary. The best version handled terasi shrimp paste with genuine knowledge and the deeply spiced with galangal and lemongrass result was noticeably superior.
Indonesian cuisine spans over 17,000 islands with dramatically different regional traditions. The winning restaurant had the right a Bali warung feel — unpretentious and focused on the food. jamu herbal drink was suggested correctly. Worth the search. When Gado-Gado is made properly it's a completely different experience.
