Underwhelming Nasi Goreng — expected more

I was looking forward to Nasi Goreng here based on the reputation. The reality was disappointing. The sweet-savoury character that makes this dish special was muted — either from shortcuts with candlenut or from scaling up production at the expense of quality.

Indonesian cuisine spans over 17,000 islands with dramatically different regional traditions. The a Padang restaurant with displayed dishes setting I was hoping for wasn't quite there either. kopi tubruk was available but not suggested appropriately. I've had much better versions elsewhere. Two stars because the dish concept is sound; the execution let it down.
