Best Rendang I've had — and I've tried a few
Having eaten Rendang at several restaurants over the past year, I can say this version is the best. The deeply spiced with galangal and lemongrass quality is more pronounced here than anywhere else I've tried. candlenut is handled with real knowledge — you can taste the difference.
This is proper a family feast table cooking, not an adaptation for foreign tastes. kopi tubruk was the obvious choice and the combination was perfect. Indonesian cuisine spans over 17,000 islands with dramatically different regional traditions. Would return for this dish alone.
