Street food Satay — the authentic version
The best Satay I've ever had came from a street stall, not a restaurant. The deeply spiced with galangal and lemongrass intensity was completely different — more direct and uncompromised. kecap manis sweet soy was used without hesitation, the way it should be.
rendang from West Sumatra is consistently voted one of the world's most delicious dishes. The a Bali warung setting meant eating standing up or on a low stool, which is how this food is supposed to be encountered. Bintang beer was sold right next to it. Don't wait to find the 'right' restaurant. Find the street version first.
