First time trying Shakshuka — completely converted
I had never tried Shakshuka before this visit and I wasn't sure what to expect. The bright and fresh with herbs taste hit immediately and made sense of the dish in a way descriptions never quite do. Medjool dates is an ingredient I'd not encountered used quite like this before.
The a Shabbat family dinner setting added something to the experience — this kind of food makes sense in that environment. Israeli cuisine is shaped by Jewish diaspora traditions from across the world fused with local Levantine ingredients. My server recommended Israeli wine alongside and it was exactly right. I've been telling everyone to try Shakshuka. Outstanding first encounter.
