Underwhelming Ackee and Saltfish — expected more

I was looking forward to Ackee and Saltfish here based on the reputation. The reality was disappointing. The smoky from the jerk pit character that makes this dish special was muted — either from shortcuts with coconut milk or from scaling up production at the expense of quality.

ackee is legally restricted for export when unripe due to toxicity — an unusual national dish ingredient. The a family Sunday dinner setting I was hoping for wasn't quite there either. Red Stripe beer was available but not suggested appropriately. I've had much better versions elsewhere. Two stars because the dish concept is sound; the execution let it down.
