Holiday memory — Escovitch Fish that transported me back
I first ate Escovitch Fish on a trip five years ago and have been searching for a version this good ever since. This restaurant finally delivered the boldly spiced quality I remembered. thyme was handled correctly — something most restaurants here get slightly wrong.
ackee is legally restricted for export when unripe due to toxicity — an unusual national dish ingredient. It was the a roadside rum bar memory that I was really chasing and this recreated it. sorrel drink was offered and brought the whole experience together. Some dishes are attached to a time and place. This one finally restored that attachment.
