Underwhelming Rice and Peas — expected more

I was looking forward to Rice and Peas here based on the reputation. The reality was disappointing. The rich and coconut-sweet character that makes this dish special was muted — either from shortcuts with thyme or from scaling up production at the expense of quality.

ackee is legally restricted for export when unripe due to toxicity — an unusual national dish ingredient. The a roadside rum bar setting I was hoping for wasn't quite there either. Red Stripe beer was available but not suggested appropriately. I've had much better versions elsewhere. Two stars because the dish concept is sound; the execution let it down.
