Honest verdict on Nasi Lemak — good but not exceptional

Nasi Lemak here was solidly made — richly spiced and coconut-sweet without anything to complain about. galangal was present and handled reasonably. But something was missing from the depth that this dish should have.

Penang is considered the food capital of Malaysia and rivals Singapore for hawker excellence. The a Baba Nyonya Peranakan restaurant atmosphere was pleasant enough. Anchor beer was available and a good suggestion. For a reliable version of Nasi Lemak this works. For an exceptional one, I'd keep looking. Three stars.
