Honest verdict on Bara — good but not exceptional

Bara here was solidly made — hearty and filling without anything to complain about. buckwheat was present and handled reasonably. But something was missing from the depth that this dish should have.

dal bhat power for 24 hours is a trekking mantra reflecting how central the dish is to Nepali daily life. The a Sherpa kitchen in the mountains atmosphere was pleasant enough. raksi grain spirit was available and a good suggestion. For a reliable version of Bara this works. For an exceptional one, I'd keep looking. Three stars.
