Decent Dhindo — nothing more, nothing less
Dhindo at this place was fine. The earthy and warming flavour was there but not distinguished. black lentils was present in the right quantities but without the care that makes the difference. You can taste when something is being made to a formula.
dal bhat power for 24 hours is a trekking mantra reflecting how central the dish is to Nepali daily life. The a Kathmandu teahouse setting was generic rather than immersive. tongba millet beer was offered but not explained. If you're in the area and want Dhindo it'll do. If you're going out of your way, look elsewhere.
