Best Chakalaka I've had — and I've tried a few

Having eaten Chakalaka at several restaurants over the past year, I can say this version is the best. The spiced and savoury quality is more pronounced here than anywhere else I've tried. chakalaka relish is handled with real knowledge — you can taste the difference.

This is proper a Cape Malay restaurant in Cape Town cooking, not an adaptation for foreign tastes. Pinotage wine was the obvious choice and the combination was perfect. the braai is a cross-cultural South African institution that transcends racial and social divides. Would return for this dish alone.
